A Long Weekend in Shenzhen: The members of the Global Signage Alliance at ISLE

GSA representatives at the ISE event

Earlier in March the members of the Global Signage Alliance (GSA) were present at ISLE Shenzhen, one of the leading exhibitions in the world for LED, digital signage and display technologies.

Representing the alliance were four delegates from two member GSA companies:

  • Christian Weckx (COO) and Maxine Weckx (Business Development Manager) from 4infinity
  • Bastiaan Amsing (CEO) and Ricardo de Vries (CTO) from ScreenCom Group

Although the visit was only a long weekend, the schedule quickly filled with meetings, networking events and exploration of the exhibition floor.

Two Journeys to Shenzhen

The GSA delegation travelled to Shenzhen in two groups. Chris and Maxine flew in together from Belgium, while Bastiaan and Ricardo departed from the Netherlands.

For the ScreenCom Group team, the journey turned out to be slightly more adventurous than planned.

Due to the current geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, their original flight route had to be changed, forcing them to rebook and adjust their travel plans at the last minute.

Fortunately, everyone eventually made it to Shenzhen safely, ready to begin the weekend’s activities.

The GSA Interview

During the exhibition, the delegation was invited to give an interview for ISLE, representing the Global Signage Alliance.

The discussion focused on the role of international collaboration within the digital signage industry and how networks like the GSA help bridge the gap between regions.

As more brands deploy digital solutions across multiple countries, the need for trusted partners capable of delivering consistent service globally becomes increasingly important.

The interview provided an excellent opportunity to explain how the GSA connects integrators and service partners worldwide, creating a framework that enables companies to support international projects with confidence.

Thursday Evening: The ISLE VIP Dinner

The first official moment of the visit took place on Thursday evening, when the GSA delegation attended a VIP dinner hosted by the ISLE organisation.

The dinner brought together a diverse group of professionals from across the digital signage and display ecosystem: manufacturers, integrators, technology developers and industry leaders from different parts of the world.

For the Global Signage Alliance, the evening offered a valuable opportunity to reconnect with existing contacts and introduce the alliance to new partners.

The conversations ranged widely, from developments in LED manufacturing and supply chains to the increasing demand for global service networks that can support international deployments.

It was also a reminder that while our industry is driven by technology, it is ultimately built on relationships.

Friday: Exploring ISLE

The following day was dedicated to exploring the ISLE exhibition itself. Rather than moving through the show together as a group, the four GSA representatives decided to divide their time and explore the exhibition from the perspective of their respective companies.

Chris and Maxine focused primarily on technologies and partners relevant to 4infinity’s work as a global digital signage integrator, while Bastiaan and Ricardo explored solutions and connections that align with ScreenCom Group’s areas of expertise.

This approach allowed the delegation to cover far more ground and gather insights from multiple parts of the exhibition.

ISLE’s scale makes this almost necessary, the show spans several halls filled with LED technologies, control systems, display innovations and content platforms. Across the exhibition floor, one theme stood out clearly: the industry continues to push boundaries in both performance and integration. From increasingly sophisticated LED solutions to improved system management platforms, the pace of innovation remains remarkable.

Beyond the Exhibition

While the exhibition itself lasted only two days, the visit to Shenzhen offered more than just time on the show floor.

After the main programme concluded, Chris and Maxine stayed a little longer in the city over the weekend.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, they explored parts of Shenzhen beyond the exhibition halls, experiencing the local culture, visiting different neighbourhoods and gaining a deeper impression of the city that plays such a central role in the global display industry.

Shenzhen is often described as the technological powerhouse behind much of the world’s display innovation, but spending time in the city also reveals its vibrant urban culture, markets and fast-paced energy.

A Short Trip with Long-Term Impact

Although the visit to ISLE lasted only a few days, the experience once again highlighted the importance of events that bring the global signage community together.

From the VIP dinner and industry conversations to the many meetings held across the exhibition floor, the weekend provided valuable insights and connections.

For the Global Signage Alliance, it was another step in strengthening the international network that supports global signage deployments.

The GSA would like to thank the ISLE organisation for the invitation and hospitality, and we look forward to continuing the conversations that began in Shenzhen. Because in an industry that operates on a global scale, collaboration is not just beneficial, it is essential.
